A Network video recorder is for digital video cameras (a DVR records analog cameras)

Details:
This Network Video Recorder, NVR, records the latest compression format, H.265. The NVR has 1TB of storage and can be upgraded in the options section. The cameras are 1MP or 720P HD resolution. There are other resolutions also available in other systems. The 5 port switch includes 4 ports that have power over ethernet to power each camera. No additional power is necessary for the camera. The fifth port connects the switch to the recorder. One benefit of this design is that the recorder can be in 1 location and the switch can be further away, thus requiring just 1 cable to the recorder. The CAT5E cable is 100 feet long and can be removed in the options if not needed.  A monitor is needed for viewing and sold separately. The monitor is connected to the NVR either with a VGA cable or HDMI.

What does this really mean?

This is a Network Video Recorder, it records digital video from IP cameras, also called digital cameras, it can record 9 cameras at a time and a total of 80MB per second
The recording can be from 12MP cameras (4K) or less
The recorder connects to a monitor that is sold separately either through a HDMI or VGA cable
The compression method is called H.265, this is the newest compression and uses about half the storage as MP4
The video recorder, also called a Network Video Recorder (NVR) can connect to the internet with a typical network cable and connect into a router for remote viewing, port forwarding is required
To watch video on a monitor live, the video will display all 8 cameras at a lower resolution and one camera can be selected to show the full video
The NVR will replay 1 recorded video at 4K resolution and 2 recorded video at 1080P at a time
The NVR has many features, it can receive an IP address from the router, or once can be manually assigned
The NVR has a 1 terabyte hard drive that is made especially for a video recorder and a reputable brand, larger storage is available at a minimal cost increase
